Lanzhou has a unique natural environment and a distinct cultural landscape, with mountains facing each other from the north and south, and the Yellow River flowing east to west, winding for tens of kilometers. Inspired by these remarkable characteristics, the design integrates its architectural aspects to form a stacking volume, with the flowing Yellow River represented as a shuttle of people and the mountains and rocks with different shapes on both sides embodied by functional stacking spaces.
The commercial functions have been placed along the street on the east side of the base in order to generate a stronger commercial atmosphere. Furthermore, a pleasant urban street environment has been created, harmonious with the surrounding urban context.
The main tower is on the north side, forming a unique city interface, while at the same time, avoiding overshadowing the adjacent residences and commercial spaces. The other high-rise volumes have been arranged in a seemingly random fashion so that they do not overwhelm the adjacent urban spaces and have been positioned in order to share space in the sky on several levels, creating green office spaces and providing more places for interaction. This greatly enriches the internal commercial environment, and this, along with the large areas of roof garden, has added much value to the development.
